SB 293 -- INCOME TAX FILING LIMITS
SPONSOR: Vogel (Deeken)
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Tax Policy by a vote of 16 to 0.
This bill allows the Director of the Department of Revenue to
increase the threshold requirement for a taxpayer to file an
individual income tax return.
FISCAL NOTE: Estimated Net Savings to General Revenue Fund of
Unknown in FY 2004, FY 2005, and FY 2006. Expected to be less
than $100,000 annually.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will reduce the filing
of individual income tax returns when no state tax is due.
Testifying for the bill were Representative Smith (118) for
Senator Vogel; and Department of Revenue.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
